Troy Jackson is so dedicated to riding BMX he has spent more time recovering from surgery than actually riding over the past two years. Even with the restricted time he has spent on his bike in that time, he has continued to show us all just how much natural talent and drive he has on a bmx. Every weekend that Troy is out on a mission is bound to result in ridiculous clips that continue to leave us shaking our heads in disbelief. A perfect example is when Troy iced the long rail in Doncaster which is seen in his FederalXFocalpoint clip. He double pegged it a couple times while we setup the cameras, he commented on how fast the rail was and once everyone was sorted confirmed that we were ready. He rode away from the rail, turned back around and rolled at the rail at walking pace. A long ice grind like this usually doesn’t happen first go, but Troy hopped onto the rail, found his balance point and then sat on the grind like he was casually manualling footpath squares. Now that I think about it, it seemed like the grind went for a good 10 seconds though in reality it was only 2 or 3. Once he got to the end of the rail, he dropped off and turned to the left to miss the gravel and fence, which left us all wondering if he did actually ice grind the rail first go. Some obscenities were muttered by those who were there and after a few metres Troy turned around and said casually ‘did you guys get that?” then came back to check footage and photos. You might think its not that extraordinary for someone to get a trick first go, but its not very often that someone will be so casual about crossing a trick off the list that they’ve been thinking about for an extended period. I’m very excited for when Troy gets back from his shoulder reconstruction because I know it will result in more amazing clips being clocked on a Sunday morning, when most people are still trying to sleep off their hangovers.
