JAM NATION // MAC FIELDS JAM
Words by Butterlegs.
The Mac Fields Jam was the third in our summer jam series, the Sunday Sydney Sessions. These began with the loose idea of getting a few more events happening, as well as making the Sydney scene a little more cohesive. If the jams so far are any sort of indicator, I think it’s safe to say we’ve succeeded, as the turnout has continued to grow since our first down at Helensburgh in September. Not only did the turnout far exceed my expectations, it was one of the largest I’ve seen at a jam in quite some time. Additionally, we had one of the best vibes ever; the ‘official’ events were definitely a side note. Dudes were throwing down just for the sake of a good time.
By now I’m sure you’ve all seen the edit, so I don’t need to give a play-by-play of who did what and who won what; however, the standout of the night would have to be Lewis Mills. His all-round capabilities shone through, with him killing it in everything from the flat rail jam, the king of the box and even the bowl lord session. He walked away with the MVP. Notable mentions also go to Chris Whyte, Lee Cruickshank, Ty Terlecky and Josh Druce who pulled off what I consider to be move of the night. The night wouldn’t have been possible without the genius of Matt Holmes and Josh Druce who conceived the idea, and the support of Cooper Brownlee, John Young, Tom Boorman, Colony BMX, Division Brand, 2020, Focalpoint BMX and Hell on Wheels.
