Back in the 2003/2004 years myself and the guys I rode with on the regular were all into searching and riding pools. We found some pretty awesome ones that were amazing to ride, some we never got to ride but to be honest it was more about the mission to find and drain these rare beasts. Most of these photos have been posted up over the years or in mags but I felt it a good time to get them together and hopefully motivate crew to get out there and find some gems…
I believe leon Sabliskis sourced the location of this pool from a skateboard friend, it was located in the city and was around for a little while whilst renovations happened. It had some good transition which was rae for a Melbourne pool. Andrei scored this photo which I think was in 2020 aswell. Photo: Leon Sablinskis.
Viewbank pool, Beau found this one and he actually got the owners to let him ride it, he signed some waiver and that was it, a few sessions went down on this I think. Photo: Leon Sablinskis.
A pool in Malvern that we only got to ride, Stuart Dolley found this one I think. We used a pump to help drain the water and when a neighbour asked about what was going on someone just winged it tried to name the owners which didn’t work out but we still got some time to ride it.
Beau was a little pool fiend and could kill anyone we put in front of him.
This pool was in Croydon, I actually found it when I pulled into a service lane to answer my phone. I look left and was blown away! It was heavily sessioned and although it was shitty tranny it was deep which made it an epic battle to pegs the top, I think Grosser and Mick both got it done? You may remember this pool from the cover of an old issue of 2020 that Grosser scored. Photo: Leon Sablinskis.
This was a ranodm one we came across deep in the back streets of Mt Eliza, we never got to ride it but damn it was a cool find.
One of the best pools we rode, this was found by a friend of ours and one of the most serious pool searchers I’ve known, Foster and was located in Rowville. This one was real secluded so we never worked out how he found it behind a salvation army church we had many good sessions in this and draining it was a solid effort. It lasted a while before they got fed up with people riding it so they filled it with rocks.

Since there was power at this pool we lit it up hot evening and had an amazing time carving it in the dark.
Dolley found this one I think whilst out working, it was in the rich area of Malvern, had quite a bit of tranny but the pool itself was tight. Didn’t last that long though.

Foster found this pool aswell, I think it was in Rowville or Dandenong, just looking over every suspicious fence can get you some hidden treasures.
No idea who found this pool, it wasn’t us but it was a real good one that was around for years, hell it might even still he there? Lou loved this pool.
Steps carve was wild by Mick Bayzand.
Another pool we can’t take credit for but was a pretty good one out past Epping that lasted quite a while until they built houses all over the area.
Another Mt Eliza pool, not much tranny but was still a good session, short and sweet.
Richard found this pool in Ringwood and we spent 2 days draining it, but it had barely any transition so it didn’t work out that well but we still got a few sessions in before its demise.
