Bike Check – Kym Grosser & Sean Falkenstein

Interview & Photos by Alex Liiv.

How would you describe the way you set your bike up?

Sean – Bike setup is pretty normal, cut down my forks steerer tube for a clean look. Cut down my bars about an inch of each side. Always run my wheel slamed keepin my bike feelin responsive as possible.

Kym – My bike is set up for street , 4 pegs , hub guards all round , seat pretty low and big bars slightly forward for nose wheelies..

What parts do you go through the fasted and why?

Sean – Usually go through pedals/ chains the most because of grinding apart from that spokes grips and tubes just from general wear and rear. everything else lasts quite a while.

Kym – I probably got through the wearables mostly grips ,tyres ,chain and pedals..

What are some of your favourite parts/features of your bike and why?

Sean – Favourite features, gold pedals for mirra, super responsive frame geo and vans tyres although I didn’t like them at first because they are huge ive grown to love them. they are supper grippy on wallrides and easier to land stuff cos they are so fat feels like more of a cushion.

Kym – My favourite part on my bike is probably my kgbc Set sig bars, I help design them so I think there perfect..

You both run bars under 9” and a cassette, what’s your rational for not following the current trends?

Sean – I run low bars purely because that’s what I’m used to an comfortable with, same with the cassette I don’t do enough backwards stuff and can do the backwards stuff I want without a coaster so don’t really see the point of swapping. Also I really like quick engagement and don’t liken change ahaha

Kym – I’ve been riding a long time and I use my cassette too much in my riding to try an change now and I like my bars just under 9 ” so I can throw the bars a bit easier ..

What tricks/moves thrash your bike the most, and how?

Sean – Cranks arms would be the biggest part destroyer on both the pedal and crank, next one would be breaking my chain but that’s just when I fuck up and land on it.

Kym – My bikes last a long time but bailing nose wheelies and hangers always scratches and dents my frame ..

Both you guys put out some amazing insta clips on a regular basis, how do you stay motivated?

Sean – Just cant help but constantly think of new shit I wanna try, doing the same stuff just gets boring and ionly really ride Prahran skatepark and street. I get motivated and in the moment and chuck it on insta its as simple as that aAHA

Kym – I always get stoked on pulling new tricks and riding with the boys so that modivates me most so it makes sense to post it online to show your mates and keep the sponnos happy.
