Opening up with a montage to introduce everyone, soon follows the opening part from Calvin Kosovich. Calvin is a rail boss as most would have figured by now, though he does have a few nibbly clips for us, including an oppo smith nose manual which I quite enjoyed. There are a number of tricks filmed in America, where Calvin has spent a fair bit of time the last year. Now that he is on Kink, I hope the Americans get to know how good he is. The hop over the rail into the bank is absolutely RIDICULOUS.
Next up we have another tall man, Jerry Vandervalk. I love how lazy Jerry looks on the bike. Maybe its the tall man hunched over thing, but he never looks like he is stressing. Even falling off kinked rails he looks comfortable. Jerry’s wheels at the end is a perfect example of why his riding is so good to watch. Burly tricks, done as casually as possible.
We break for early intermission with a quick montage of the usual Australian suspects, with some American legends mixed in between. Jason Watts does a 1 footed table waayyyyy higher than anyone else could and baby Jack Elkins has a Flashback Friday line also. Gonz also has 3 or 4 tricks, worth mentioning always! Pat his new dog if you see him taking it for a walk!
Marnold’s part is grind overload, as to be expected. To be honest, this isn’t his best part we’ve seen from him as of late, considering how GREAT his last Colony part was. His last trick is very very good though, A++.
Clint Millar is a legend in bmx, as confirmed by the words spoken by the greats in his introduction. I’ve got nothing bad to say about the guy, he is always smiling and helping out anyone he can; which is probably why it seems half the country is on one of his teams! Talking to a few people about this video, they’ve all brought up Clint’s last trick as a highlight of the dvd. The whole section is classic Clint, but its great to see him still progressing the front brake world, even as an old man!! I hope the younger generation watch this part and appreciate the history behind it. There is even a flatland line followed by a rail bomb! Diversity!!
The 3 years spent filming this dvd is shown in Macca’s part with the variations in bikes and setups, going from 2 pegs and a cassette to 4 pegs and a freecoaster. Macca may not bring footage out every 2 weeks, though everything he does is always quality. Without giving too much away, there are two hard way tricks in his part that were completely unexpected. Well done Macca.
The last part is reserved for Raph, which is never a bad decision! Raph’s riding has always been burly, and the rock n roll soundtrack his a great choice for his part. Unlike a heap of riders who pick the latest rap song as it is cool, Raph has a song by a band he probably has 10 tshirts of. As well as being a huge fan of his riding, I always enjoy that even if he has fallen from a roof, he is always smiling and enjoying bmx, which is a great change from the b-roll angry man bike throwing footage we get in a heap of videos. As well as his street domination, Raph shows his diverse riding style with some epic pool footage. I’m not sure if any of the younger guys who have never ridden a pool realise how hard it is, anything done in a pool is great, and Raph makes it all look good. This was a great way to end the dvd and I was hyped with everything I saw.
Filming a dvd that isn’t for a team or a crew is pretty rare, so for Stu to gather all the footage of these great riders from around the country is no mean feat. For a tenner from your local bike shop, you can’t really go past this great dvd. Maybe you’ve got a KK present you need to buy for your boss with a $10 limit?! This could make a great surprise for any work colleague!
